Lions have a thousand lands to conquer,
Formed from the stone intestines and
Dried blood of Earth.
Pigs have a thousand Last Meals to attend
Before they are brought to the back room
Of the farmhouse and beheaded in half-light
With a once polished cleaver.
Birds have a thousand rivers and hills
To see amongst the rolling clouds.
Dogs have a thousand owners to betray,
Taking more names than diseases of the mind.
Rabbits have a thousand feet to lose
And be placed inside boxes stored
In the farthest corner of the garage,
Beside the wind-up angels that need
A new coat of paint on their cherry red smiles,
And the jesters perpetu
When I entered Adam Valley High School I would smell the aroma of tobacco smoke and overpriced perfume in the air. Smelling the smoke had an obvious answer behind it; someone would leave a cigarette near the front steps. And it was always lit dimly, the orange glow would be slowly meeting its end. We eventually found out that it was Nathan Legerwood who did this every morning. And he must have felt good doing it. Smoking was prohibited at Adam Valley High, even when all the lights were turned off and there was no one around. And Nathan was never punished, even though people would state that he should from time to time. That they should take a
I wander with a recently shattered mind,
Through fields most unkind.
A church boy who walks alongside me wants to die
And I
Should bear the blood-stained hands.
Overwhelmed by pain, he can barely stand.
We rest in a desecrated belvedere.
His eyes are vitiated by tears.
The Pale Ones first infected my mother,
And now my brother.
(Related not in blood, but in sin.)
I do not wish to disregard the agony and fear that is consuming him from within,
So like many before me I decide to flense

Unless they are worth dying for
Expel the rats that slumber bring
And don't let the phone ring
Glen Hogan cut through my ego
Bill Harper swept away Diane
I fester in the ocean's depths with Beechy
And of course father's fishing rod
New nurse can you
Sway your fingers across my skin
All this time, girl, where have you been
Christmas cheer from agony
I'm a stat
Chief Jack is careening past the shelters that we made
Way far from Castle Rock like a bulldog gone enraged
A head boy of the choir
He's such a good liar
Accountable for the deaths of just two

I'm called Merridew and you'd surely not have a doubt
That I was elected; retorting every flout
At first reluctant to see the spear fall and the sound
After awhile, oh yes, that pig had to be found
I'm the supreme master of the voices
Converting sweet songs into shrieks and vicious choices
Stottie cakes with pease porridge, maybe some herbal tea
Is something I would have under reign of normalcy
Though we are on an
